Back in the so called “go-go†days of the 1990’s, we had a technology leader here in the Washington D.C. region who helped to instigate a tremendous amount of activity among all the new and old businesses vying for their shot at the brass ring. We used to gather at 7:30 in the morning to hear from panelists and visionaries who told of the big new world we were lucky to be a part of. At the end of some presentations, Mario Marino would speak to us. His sincere humble words would spur us on to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. You can read more about Mario here. A truly wonderful man, who continues to put his time and energy toward doing great things.
Back in February of 1998 at one of the regular networking events his Netpreneur program used to host, Mario gave a talk on the importance or need to have a business plan. Over the years I have forwarded a transcript of this talk to many aspiring entrepreneurs. You can read it here. It’s a real eye opener from a very successful entrepreneur and still completely relevant all these years later.
Also, please check out Mario’s new book Leap of Reason which presents both an impassioned plea and a logical plan for taking a social sector–wide leap forward in our ability to create meaningful, measurable good
